How Does Peter & Greg Walker Contracting Reduce Your Risk?

Since we began giving out customer satisfaction surveys back in 2004, our cumulative referral rate is over 96% (all of the surveys are in our office for you to review) as compared to the industry average of less than 52%. No-one is perfect, so how do we consistently deliver such an exceptional approval rating?

Our proven systems guarantee peace of mind.

When buying a new roof or chimney you are actually buying an intangible because you can’t see or touch the product until it is finished. Therefore, you need to have complete trust and confidence in your contractor. Does your contractor have the knowledge and skill sets at all levels to do the job properly? Do they apply that knowledge correctly on every job? Do they really care about doing the right job and have the systems to consistently deliver a positive experience and finished product?

Peter & Greg Walker Contracting strives to ensure a positive experience from your initial phone call until you complete your customer satisfaction survey, and for years down the road. Here is a condensed outline of our proven system (you will experience many more steps on our complete checklist) that will ensure your satisfaction.

Before you select us you can expect:

  • Call us between 8:30 and 4:30, Monday to Friday and you will talk to a staff member on the phone. If we're on the other line, at lunch, or it's after hours please leave a message and we'll call you back as soon as possible.
  • Our office staff will schedule a specific appointment time for you to meet one of our Estimators (not a general time range; we know your time is valuable).
  • The Estimator will meet with you at the specified time to:
    • discuss your problems/requirements/expectations/budget
    • take measurements
    • schedule a second appointment date to review the proposal details and options
  • Back at our office the proposal is generated with our 'fair pricing system', where every job comes off the same price list (based on square footage, slope of the roof, numbers of chimneys, linear feet of valleys, etc.).
  • Back at our office Greg Walker, one of our owners with nearly 30 years of industry experience, reviews the proposal.
  • At the second appointment our Estimator will meet at the specified time with everyone involved in making the decision. Through photos, diagrams and samples they will take the time required to review:
    • the Certified Contractors Network homeowner education process, which ensures alignment of what we are proposing for your project, your expectations for the project, and the manufacturer's requirements to ensure valid product warranty (this is the critical step leading to overall satisfaction)
    • your material and pricing options

This step is very thorough, and at this point you will have all of the information required to make a fully informed decision. You can then decide if Peter & Greg Walker Contracting is the right contractor for your job.

After we are awarded the work:

(This where we really separate ourselves from the competition.)

  • Peter and Greg Walker, the owners, and the Senior Production staff review the project to verify specifications, logistics and other quality checks.
  • Your project is placed in our production schedule and we order the materials.
  • We call you to update the start date (as weather is a factor).
  • Our Field Manager has a 'Pre-construction meeting' with you to review job details just prior to the start date.
  • We set up the appropriate property protection for your house and neighbouring properties.
  • Walker trained and certified crew complete the installation.
  • If any unexpected issues are revealed when existing materials are removed, Peter & Greg Walker have over 60 years combined experience to resolve the issue and keep the project moving forward.

After the work is completed

  • You accompany our Field Manager on a 'Completed job inspection' so that any potential concerns are addressed.
  • You will be presented with the final invoice, customer satisfaction survey and the manufacturer's warranty information booklet.
  • We register the Manufacturer's warranty on your behalf (otherwise it will not be valid).
  • Our senior staff members review your survey and implement your suggestions for improvements.

How long does the process take?

A high quality contractor with a significant amount of referral business is going to have a lead time anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months, depending on the weather, time of year, and the number and size of jobs already booked. Keep in mind that the more inclement the weather, the more that people call us with leaks, and the less work we are able to install.

Busier times of year tend to be spring and fall, or after any heavy rainfall. Therefore, it is better to be pro-active and initiate this process as soon as you become aware of any issues and before you experience costly interior damage.

What if I have a leak now?

This is a very common occurrence. In this situation we immediately install a temporary emergency repair to keep the water out of your home until the full job is done.
